ICE response training for UW School of Nursing students

  • Audience: Open to all UW School of Nursing students
  • Students from several cohorts, sponsored by the School of Nursing Student Leadership Board, have collaborated to offer an ICE response training focused on health care settings.
  • The training is facilitated by LET’S GO!/VÁMONOS! and prepares learners to respond to the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement or Border Patrol agents in clinical environments.

What the training covers

  • Strategies for self‑protection and patient advocacy during ICE or Border Patrol encounters
  • Legal education on patient and provider rights
  • Case studies from ICE and Border Patrol interactions with patients and health care workers across the United States
  • Examples of practices health care workers use nationwide to protect themselves and their patients
  • Interactive scenarios to practice advocacy skills in stressful and uncertain situations
  • The training is led by experienced organizers working in health care and emphasizes building confidence, practical skills and a strong sense of personal agency.
  • Participants will leave with new skills, greater confidence and resources for continued learning and safety planning.
