Training overview: The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) Foundational Community Supports (FCS) team, in partnership with the Rutgers School of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions, invites providers to participate in a full-day, in-person Motivational Interviewing (MI) training in June.
What participants will learn: This interactive training provides an overview of Motivational Interviewing, including when and where MI can be applied, how to embody the spirit of MI, and how to use foundational MI skills across stages of change. Participants will observe and practice MI techniques designed to support behavior change, recovery, and person-centered goal achievement.
About Motivational Interviewing: Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based practice used across behavioral health and community-based settings. MI focuses on exploring and resolving ambivalence while strengthening internal motivation for change. Its goal-directed, person-centered approach aligns with recovery-oriented values and supports individuals participating in Washington’s Foundational Community Supports.
