The EarthLab Summer Internship Program is back for its fifth year, and this is our largest cohort yet!
Know someone who’d be a great fit? We’re looking for curious, motivated UW undergraduate students ready to tackle real-world challenges at the intersection of climate change and social justice. Please share this opportunity with eligible students in your network.
What makes this internship different?
If you’re eager to build skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and community-engaged work, this program was designed with you in mind. Over nine weeks, you’ll partner with EarthLab and our network of organizations on applied research and hands-on projects addressing urgent environmental and societal issues. But you won’t be doing it alone. Our signature cohort model brings together students from across disciplines to learn, grow, and support one another.
As an intern, you’ll:
- Collaborate with peers during weekly sessions focused on climate change, career development, environmental justice, and peer learning
- Work closely with dedicated mentors—both site supervisors and EarthLab staff—who are invested in your success
- Showcase your work at a culminating event where you’ll present your summer experiences to colleagues, friends, and family
Program highlights:
- Compensation: Paid internship stipend plus a $180 commuting stipend (can be applied toward a summer UPass)
- Community: Four hours each week dedicated to connecting with fellow interns over shared meals, training, and meaningful conversations
- Growth:Networking opportunities and professional development woven throughout the experience
- Open to all UW undergraduates:Any UW undergraduate student enrolled as of Spring Quarter 2026 across the Seattle, Bothell, or Tacoma campuses is welcome to apply
