Scholarships, Fellowships & Funding Opportunities

Here are some highlighted opportunities currently accepting applications:

Global Mental Health & Addiction – Postdoctoral Fellow or Assistant Research Professor

University of Maryland

Join a multidisciplinary team working on NIH-funded trials examining peer-delivered interventions for substance use and mental health. Ideal for scholars interested in implementation science, health disparities, or nature-based interventions.

Best consideration date: November 17, 2025.

F.A. Davis Scholarships – $1,000 Awards

Open to nursing and health professions students at any level, these scholarships recognize dedication to patient care and academic excellence. Four students will each receive a $1,000 award to support their education.

Deadline: November 16, 2025.

ITHS TL1 Translational Research Training Program

A one-year, mentored research opportunity for predoctoral students wanting to expand their translational science skillset. Includes structured training and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Deadline: December 22, 2025.

University of Michigan Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship

A two-year fellowship designed for post-doctoral researchers (clinicians or PhDs) interested in child-focused health services research. Fellows receive individualized mentorship and training across research, policy, and evaluation. Interested applicants should contact sleasure@umich.edu.

Nurses Educational Funds (NEF) Scholarships

Graduate-level funding (master’s and doctoral) for nursing students pursuing advanced education. NEF has a long history of supporting emerging nurse leaders through substantial scholarship awards.

FIPRN Scholars Program – Firearm Injury Prevention Research in Nursing

A 12-week hybrid program including a fully funded 3.5-day intensive in Colorado. Ideal for early-career nurse scientists or allied health researchers interested in firearm injury prevention, community-engaged research, and practical skill-building.

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program

A fully funded summer abroad experience to study languages essential to U.S. global engagement. Open to beginners through advanced learners.

Free Statistical Consulting

UW Statistical Consulting Service (Biostatistics & Statistics)

Faculty and graduate students in the Consulting Program of the Departments of Biostatistics and Statistics offer free 50-minute consulting appointments during the academic year when classes are in session. This service is open to the entire UW community and supports a wide range of research needs, including:

  • Design of studies and experiments, including grant proposal preparation
  • Data visualization and presentation
  • Choice and application of statistical methods
  • Development of specialized statistical methods (in select cases)

Clients should come prepared to summarize the scientific background and goals of their project before diving into specific statistical questions. Consultants primarily use the R statistical software environment, but they are happy to work with whichever statistical package the client prefers.

Note: This service provides guidance on study design and data analysis. It does not include software tutorials or technical support.

CSSS Statistical Consulting (Center for Statistics & the Social Sciences)

The Center for Statistics & the Social Sciences (CSSS) also offers free consulting for UW faculty, staff, and students working on social science research. Support is available at any stage of a project—from study design and planning to statistical modeling and interpretation.

This quarter, CSSS offers two consultation formats:

  • Wednesday: 1–2 p.m. and 3–4 p.m.

NMETH 595: Designing a Theory-Driven Behavioral Intervention

Thursdays, 8:30–11:20 a.m. | In-person | HSEB 411 Instructor: Dr. Frances Marcus Lewis | Contact: fmlewis@uw.edu

A hands-on, theory-grounded course where students design their own behavioral intervention from the ground up. You’ll explore how to select theoretical frameworks, operationalize intervention components, and develop rigorous protocols for evaluating impact.

GEN ST 498A/EDPSY 581/SOC W 596 Interdisciplinary Approaches to Youth Mental Health & Well-Being

Wednesdays, 1:30–2:50 p.m. | Smith Hall 102 | Contact: Taylor Jolliffe (tjoll10@uw.edu)

Co-taught by faculty from the Population Health Initiative, Social Work, and Education, this course features weekly expert speakers. Topics include relational health, policy impacts on families, digital wellbeing, and community-engaged strategies for supporting youth mental health. Open to undergrads, grads (with add code), and community members.

NSG 570, NSG 573 & NSG 574

These electives offer systems-level and community-focused perspectives on population health.

  • NSG 573 explores systems thinking for population health.
  • NSG 574 focuses on program development and evaluation.
  • NSG 570: Management of Substance Use Disorders and Other Addictions is a 2-credit online course centered on evidence-based, equity-informed care with guest speakers and standardized patient experiences.

 

Teaching Assistant Position (50% FTE) Winter 2026 – NSG 520: Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Nursing Practice

                                                                                                              

The School of Nursing seeks a Teaching Assistant to support NSG 520: Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Nursing Practice, a required course for all Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students. The course emphasizes pharmacologic principles, therapeutic decision-making, and safe prescribing for advanced practice nurses across specialties. The TA will collaborate with Dr. Alisha Bhimani to facilitate both in-person and online learning, provide student support, and help coordinate course logistics. This position offers mentoring in evidence-based pharmacology instruction, inclusive teaching, and advanced practice education.
NSG 520 meets on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. with online, asynchronous classes on Wednesdays. The TA for the course will work with DNP students from various specialties, including PMHNP, PNP-AC/PC, CNM, FNP, AGPCNP, and AGACNP.
