Where would you go if you had eight months to travel solo? Which two continents and 6-9 countries would you visit, and how might the experience change you?
Each year, a small group of University of Washington students embarks on the adventure of a lifetime through the Bonderman Fellowship. The 2026 application is now open, and eligible students may apply for this $26,000 fellowship, which supports independent international travel.
The Bonderman Fellowship is open to UW undergraduate graduating seniors, graduate students, and professional students. Fellows travel independently for eight months to 6–9 countries across two or more major world regions. Travel must be self-directed; fellows may not conduct research, pursue an academic project, or participate in a formal program or organization.
Application deadline: January 14, 2026, before 5 p.m. Pacific Time
