Title Foundations of Medicine Instructor Job Seattle | Circuit Stream UW Summer Prog

Overview: Circuit Stream is seeking a Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare Instructor to teach high school learners (ages 13–18) at the University of Washington Seattle campus. This summer program introduces students to medical fundamentals, body systems, and healthcare careers through interactive learning and real-world case simulations.

Program Details: Courses are delivered in person at UW Seattle (Poplar Hall, Maple Hall, and Spratlen Hall), with one week of instructor training followed by three instructional sessions. Instructors must be available from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. PT.

  • Training: June 22 – June 26
  • Session 1: June 29 – July 10
  • Session 2: July 13 – July 24
  • Session 3: July 27 – August 7

Teaching Focus: Guide students through core concepts in anatomy, physiology, and medical decision-making. Learners analyze symptoms, explore healthcare roles, and develop treatment approaches using structured case simulations and a final Medical Log Book project.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons using provided curriculum and instructor guides
  • Mentor students and provide feedback on projects and assessments
  • Facilitate case-based learning and support clinical reasoning skills
  • Incorporate real-world experiences and healthcare insights
  • Evaluate student progress and comprehension

Qualifications:

  • Clinical experience in healthcare or patient care settings
  • Nursing credential (LPN, LVN, RN, APRN, NP), or current MD student, or faculty in medical/nursing education
  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring learners preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to simplify complex medical concepts for young learners
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and learner-centered mindset

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $1,500–$1,650 per week (prorated for holidays)
