  • NURS 499 is a one-quarter elective designed for second-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students.
  • The course combines on-site visits to skilled nursing facilities with a specialized curriculum focused on long-term care competencies and skills.
  • Offered Fall 2026 for a limited number of University of Washington second-year BSN students at the Seattle campus.

Course requirements

  • Two required on-site visits to long-term care facilities.
  • Asynchronous online modules.
  • Weekly seminar via Zoom (Week 1 and Week 11 seminars are required; attendance during other weeks is optional).
