Volunteer camp counselors are needed to support a one-week summer camp program and earn more than 140 service hours.
MDA Summer Camp offers a unique experience for both campers and the volunteers who serve as counselors. These week-long residential programs give children ages 8–17 living with neuromuscular disease an inclusive environment where they can freely express who they are and fully participate in adaptive summer camp activities.
Counselors play a key role in the camp experience by joining campers in activities, games, dances, mealtimes, and more while also supporting their physical, emotional, social, and personal care needs.
Counselors remain onsite for the full session, and housing and meals are provided.
In addition to supporting campers, this opportunity offers valuable field-based experience for students interested in physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical professions, education, recreation, and family social sciences. Volunteers may apply to any MDA Summer Camp session across the country, but the session closest to UW Tacoma is listed below.
