Journal of School Nursing Call for Manuscripts

The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN) is currently soliciting manuscripts for two annual special issues: literature reviews and quality improvement projects.

JOSN is a bimonthly, peer-reviewed journal that publishes manuscripts focused on improving the health of schoolchildren and school communities globally. For questions, contact Mayumi Willgerodt.

Call for literature reviews

JOSN is soliciting literature review manuscripts for a special issue of the Journal of School Nursing. The February 2027 issue will feature a variety of literature reviews, including narrative, integrative, scoping, systematic and meta-analysis reviews.

Topics may include intervention reviews, evidence related to a health problem, social determinants of health, health services or policy analyses. Manuscripts should include a robust synthesis of the literature and realistic, feasible implications for school nursing and school health services.

Submission deadline: Sept. 1, 2026, for consideration in the February 2027 special issue.

Call for evidence-based practice, quality improvement and policy manuscripts

JOSN is also soliciting evidence-based practice, quality improvement and policy manuscripts for consideration in the Journal of School Nursing. Manuscripts will be reviewed using the journal’s evidence-based practice, quality improvement and policy report guidelines for authors.

JOSN is especially interested in evidence-based or quality improvement programs and interventions that measure changes in population- or systems-level outcomes in addition to knowledge and attitudes. Manuscripts should include implications for school nursing, school communities or school health services.

Submission deadline: Oct. 1, 2026, for consideration for publication in 2027.
