The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN) is currently soliciting manuscripts for two annual special issues: literature reviews and quality improvement projects.
JOSN is a bi-monthly, peer-reviewed journal that publishes manuscripts focused on improving the health of schoolchildren and school communities globally. If you have questions, please contact Mayumi Willgerodt.
Call for Literature Reviews for Special Issue
JOSN is currently soliciting literature review manuscripts for a special issue of the Journal of School Nursing. The February 2027 issue is dedicated to a variety of literature reviews, including narrative, integrative, scoping, systematic, or meta-analysis reviews.
Topics may include intervention reviews, evidence related to a health problem, social determinants of health, health services, or policy analyses. Manuscripts should include a robust synthesis of the literature and realistic, feasible implications for school nursing and school health services. Please follow the submission guidelines for literature reviews.
To be considered for the February 2027 special issue, manuscripts must be submitted by September 1, 2026.
Call for Evidence-based Practice, Quality Improvement, and Policy Manuscripts
JOSN is also soliciting evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and policy manuscripts for consideration in Journal of School Nursing. Manuscripts will be reviewed using the journal’s evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and policy report guidelines for authors.
JOSN is especially interested in evidence-based or quality improvement programs or interventions that measure changes in population- or systems-level outcomes, in addition to knowledge and attitudes. Manuscripts should include implications for school nursing, school communities, or school health services.
