Grammarly Premium Access Ends September 2026

Beginning September 2026, the School of Nursing will no longer provide institutional access to Grammarly Premium. Students, faculty and staff will continue to have access to the free version of Grammarly unless they choose to purchase an individual subscription.

We recommend that you:

  • Download or copy any content you wish to retain from Grammarly.
  • Review the alternative writing tools listed below.

Although Grammarly Premium will no longer be offered, the School of Nursing and UW continue to offer multiple writing support resources at no additional cost to students.

How to save your Grammarly content

Option 1: Copy and paste (recommended)

  1. Go to app.grammarly.com and sign in.
  2. Open the document you want to keep.
  3. Copy the text (Ctrl + C for Windows, Command + C for Mac).
  4. Paste the text (Ctrl + V for Windows, Command + V for Mac) into Microsoft Word, Google Docs or any preferred document editor.

Option 2: Download from the Grammarly Web Editor

  1. Go to app.grammarly.com and sign in.
  2. Open the document you want to keep.
  3. Select the menu (three lines in the upper-left corner).
  4. Choose Download to save the file as a document or Print to save the file as a PDF on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my existing content in Grammarly?

No, your documents will remain associated with your Grammarly account, but Premium editing features will no longer be available. We recommend downloading any content you wish to retain with Premium edits.

Why is Grammarly Premium no longer being provided?

This change follows a review of institutional software to ensure sustainable access to core academic and clinical technologies.

Who does this change apply to?

This change applies to all School of Nursing students, faculty and staff who currently access Grammarly Premium through School of Nursing accounts.
