ACTION REQUIRED: Review your PSHIP enrollment by October 16
What you need to know
The University of Washington Professional Student Health Insurance Plan (PSHIP) opt-out website is now available. Review plan details, costs and the Aetna provider network before deciding whether to remain enrolled or opt out.
Visit the UW PSHIP website to review your options. If you choose to opt out, submit the waiver form by Friday, October 16, 2026.
Students who plan to cover dependents must complete dependent enrollment and payment through the Aetna Student Health portal.
What happens if you do nothing?
Students who are eligible for PSHIP are automatically enrolled unless they choose to opt out by the tuition due date each quarter.
What should you do now?
- Review plan information and coverage details.
- Confirm your eligibility.
- Opt out if you do not wish to participate.
- Learn how to enroll eligible dependents.
- Review frequently asked questions and additional resources.
Who should remain enrolled?
Students who do not have other health coverage or who wish to participate in PSHIP do not need to take action.
Who should opt out?
Students who do not wish to participate in PSHIP may opt out through the PSHIP opt-out website by the published deadline. You may opt out for any reason, and proof of other coverage is not required.
Important reminders
- Students who are eligible for GAIP or ISHIP are not eligible for PSHIP.
- Additional reminders will be sent as the start of coverage approaches.
