Overview: Staying current with research literature can be one of the more challenging aspects of academic work. The volume of new publications makes it difficult to track relevant findings manually, and important papers are often discovered too late to influence ongoing projects.
About LitDigest: LitDigest is a tool designed to simplify how researchers stay informed. Built by a UW Atmospheric Sciences PhD candidate, it uses semantic matching to connect your research interests—described in plain language—with newly published preprints.
How it works:
- Create a profile by describing your academic interests in your own words
- LitDigest scans new preprints across platforms such as medRxiv and bioRxiv
- Receive a weekly email with a curated list of relevant papers
Why it matters: For nursing and health sciences researchers, LitDigest reduces the need to manage multiple keyword alerts or sift through large volumes of unrelated publications. The result is a focused, time-saving approach to staying up to date with emerging evidence.
Pilot and feedback: The tool has been piloted within UW Atmospheric Sciences and UW Montlake Pediatrics, with strong initial feedback. Input from nursing and health sciences researchers is encouraged to further refine the platform.
