Memo 57: Change in DNP Specialty Track
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students who, during their program of study, desire to change from their currently matriculated track to a different track are required to re-apply to the DNP program during the regular DNP admission cycle to be considered in their desired track’s competitive application pool. No guarantee of admission to the alternative track is implied. Students considering a change in track are highly encouraged to speak with their current track advisor, the track leads for their current and desired track, and the DNP program director in advance of application.
Changing DNP Tracks
Students must be accepted into the track in which they intend to graduate before they may register for track-specific courses. Similar restrictions apply to APRN and ASPH core courses. Students may discuss with their track advisor or track lead to determine eligibility to register.
Clinical Cohort Capacity
Many DNP tracks have limited clinical training capacity, therefore offers of admission guarantee clinical training capacity starting in the second year of the DNP program. If a currently matriculated DNP student is offered admission to a new track, there is a possibility that they may need to apply for Graduate On-Levae status for one year until there is available clinical training capacity within the track.
